Safe and Inclusive Places Training
The Safe and Inclusive Places training has been developed as part of the Safe Places National Scheme, with Safe Soulmates addiing in the inclusive section to ensure that hospitality, retail and travel organisations are not only a safe place for anyone who feels unsafe, but also an inclusive place for neurodivergent and disabled people who want to feel welcomed.
From a business perspective, this is vital, and from a community perspective of paramount importance too. The training has been written and is delivered by Bill Jones and Sophie Butt, who have lived experience of autism and physical disabilities. Thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund this scheme is growing from strength to strength.
Hospitality businesses in Cambridge are learning the value of being safe and inclusive for neurodivergent customers and staff: learning what to do if someone has a seizure, shutdown or meltdown, learning about reasonable adjustments they can make to become accessible to all.
